Room 3 2017

  We are enjoying using our browsing boxes after morning tea and lunch.This is our quiet,  quiet time where we reread material we have read in our guided reading sessions and some other books at a similar level. It's a great chance to try out some strategies we have been learning. We love reading in Room 3. Last week we planted some swan plant seeds in individual pots.We hope when that when they are small plants we can replant them in our own butterfly garden.  We were amazed to find the seeds hidden inside the pod in soft fluff like material.This protects the seeds.   We will remember to water   our seeds and make sure they receive enough light. Our Inquiry into Life Cycles has been so interesting.

This week during our Maths time we played a game to reinforce what we are learning about.We are learning to count forwards and backwards in the range 1-20.  Learning to wait and take turns is another important skill.  Plus its fun!!!       Our buddy class came to visit and we took advantage of the lovely weather to sit outside and share some stories.   We finished part of our Inquiry into the Life Cycle of The Monarch Butterfly .   We were lucky enough to watch a butterfly emerge from its  chrysalis.What an amazing transformation.We thought of words like Fantastic and Wonderful to describe this.Come into Room 3 and see all our great work on Life Cycles.   We went Shape -Hunting in the playground. Just part of another great week in Room 3.

At our mat circle time we are learning to listen to one-another.We look at the person who is speaking. When it is our turn to speak we are learning to use a clear voice. Only one person can speak at a time .   Great job -Room 3.You are doing so well!!   We are learning to classify 2D shapes according to how many sides they have. We are learning to identify 2D shapes by name.    We are learning to discuss differences and likenesses of the shapes. . We are learning to describe shape attributes in our own language. W e are learning to cut, paste, and work together to solve problems.   We are inquiring into The Life cycle of Butterflies.  Here we are making Caterpillars  and a Chrysalis-the 2nd and 3rd stage of the cycle. Here are some of the questions we have thought of.We will try to find the answers. How many times does a caterpillar shed its skin? Why does a chrysalis change colour? Why

We are enjoying learning about the life cycle of butterflies.The swan plant in Room 3 is an interesting spot to investigate. It really is quite Amazing what is going on there.!!!         Our letter for the week has been S- we made some  Slithering Snakes to creep up our classroom walls !!  We enjoyed a great Junior Assembly hosted by Room 5. The singing  is fantastic!!     Our personal shields are on display-come and have a look !!   We welcomed two new students -our numbers are growing !!! Cold weather meant inside morning teas !!     On Thursday we welcomed our friends for pre school visits . Very soon we will have them with us every day.We are looking forward to it. Every week when they come we talk about school routines, class routines, and all the things we love doing in the classroom and the playground .We all help each other . !
