Room 3 2017

It has been a busy week in Room 3.We are working so hard and our teachers are very proud of our progress. At the end of our guided reading sessions we spent some time using our whiteboards to record some words we now know how to read and spell and to also practice our letter formation.We are also remembering to hold the pen in the correct w ay.We knew lots and lots of words!   Beautiful art work Room 3. W e spent some time on Friday inquiring into how torches work ! We worked in small groups trying to decide which way the batteries should go in. Great co-operation Room 3   We looked at the way the batteries might fit together -and were all able to get our torches to shine  by making those batteries connect ..-...     We than had some fun with electrical circuits. C ongratulations to our award winners this week.

Static Electricity.   Static electricity stays in one place. It is produced when some materials are rubbed together.It causes crackles when you comb your hair.  We took some sheets of green paper and tore it up into small pieces.We used a pen to add two black dots and hey presto we had some frogs .!! We combed our hair with a plastic comb quite a few times .We held the combs over the frogs and they came alive !!! The frogs jumped up because the comb had static electricity.   Did you know Lightning is caused by a natural build up of static electricity in clouds? The lightning strike is just a giant spark of electricity. We are working hard learning our Letterland characters.  Kicking King says k in words -. Great work Room 3!!

We enjoyed  Fun Fern  netball sessions during the week-learning to pass and catch and work together as a team.   We did a  Fantastic  job hosting  Junior Assembly  on Friday.All the juniors enjoyed listening to our story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar '-our ' Days of the week ' and our  Magnet  work. Marina and Scott did an  Awesome  job at presenting and everybody spoke and sang so beautifully.Well done Room 3 -we were very proud of you all -what great team work !!We are looking forward to later in the year when we will host again.
