We had fun trying to find out where the pull of a magnet is the strongest. We decided it was at the pole.We also found out that magnets can make some things move without touching them.We also discovered that a magnet will affect a magnetic object only when it enters its magnetic field.    We are working hard on our Skipping skills for the Skipathon coming up soon.Skipping can be tricky so we are really thinking about what we need to do to be successful.    '   It's fun especially in your pyjamas!!!

Well done!

Congratulations to Sarah , who has completed her Reading Rocket!   Fantastic work! You all looked amazing in your ' pyjamas '.  Well done to everyone in Room 3 who did the 'Turtle' in yesterday's earthquakes. You all listened carefully and followed all the instructions very well, just like we have practiced!   Super job everybody :)

Mighty Magnets

We started our Inquiry on   Mighty Magnets  on Thursday  with Room 4. We discovered a magnet has two poles - a North Pole  and a South Pole.  When you put together the same poles, like a North and North Pole or a South and South Pole, the magnets Repel or push apart. Magnets will attract things that are made of Iron, Nickel or Cobalt. These are called magnetic metals.  We used our magnets to see what we could attract around the classroom. We found scissors, paper clips, hair clips, pencil sharpeners and the table legs were all magnetic. Then we cut out some fish shapes and attached a paper clip to the cut outs. Then it was fishing time using our magnets!!   Some of us caught a lot of fish!! Here are our Award Winners from Junior Assembly this week.We have Junior Assembly every second Friday in the school library. As well as being a great opportunity for the whole Junior school to gather together and share, it is als

On Wednesday, it was our '100 days at school' celebration! Over the day we did a whole range of activities involving one hundred. We learnt a new song about 100, we counted forwards to 100 and back again. We read 100 books over the day and here are some of the other activities that we did.   At writing time we had to think about what we would do if we had $100... I I deas ranged from ipod minis to puppies to saving it. Our teacher read us a pop up book, along with our buddies, involving 100 animals.  With our big buddies we had dot - to - dot puzzles. We had to think of and write down 100 animals together. We also thought of 100 boys names, 100 girls names and 100 plants. We then had a yummy shared lu nch together.    After lunch we went outside. First we had to walk 100 steps forwards and backwards and then we had to count as we passed the ball around the circle.  Everyone then bounced their own ball 100 times. I
