We started our Inquiry on Mighty Magnets on Thursday
with Room 4.
We discovered a magnet has two poles - a North Pole and a South Pole. When you put together the same poles, like a North and North Pole or a South and South Pole, the magnets Repel or push apart.
Magnets will attract things that are made of Iron, Nickel or Cobalt. These are called magnetic metals.
We used our magnets to see what we could attract around the classroom. We found scissors, paper clips, hair clips, pencil sharpeners and the table legs were all magnetic.
Then we cut out some fish shapes and attached a paper clip to the cut outs. Then it was fishing time using our magnets!!
Some of us caught a lot of fish!!
Here are our Award Winners from Junior Assembly this week.We have Junior Assembly every second Friday in the school library. As well as being a great opportunity for the whole Junior school to gather together and share, it is also a good learning step to prepare all our students for the full school assembly held every other Friday. This week we went over New Zealand's national anthem which we sing with Pride and Respect as a full school.
