Static Electricity. Static electricity stays in one place. It is produced when some materials are rubbed together. It causes crackles when you comb your hair. We took some sheets of green paper and tore it up into small pieces. We used a pen to add two black dots and hey presto we had some frogs .!! We combed our hair with a plastic comb quite a few times .We held the combs over the frogs and they came alive !!! The frogs jumped up because the comb had static electricity. Did you know Lightning is caused by a natural build up of static electricity in clouds? The lightning strike is just a giant spark of electricity. We are working hard learning our Letterland characters. Kicking King says k in words -. Great work Room 3!!
The Year One students had a great trip to the Carter Observatory on Tuesday. It was very cold!! We divided into groups after our arrival. We watched a show all about The Solar System. The stars looked amazing! We talked about the Sun and the difference between Night and Day. We had time at the end to explore the Galleries and try our hand at some of the activities on offer. We are really enjoying our Inquiry about The Solar System.
