Painting fun!

Room 3 have been learning how to mix primary colours together to make new colours. They have made the colour wheel. 






Room 3 studied Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' painting and made their own using 'cool' colours.





They made pictures using the 'warm' colours.
  
Room 3 mixed black and white to make different tints and shades. 





They have used acrylic paint for these works and will be learning how to use water colour paints next.

Wow - this week we had a ride on a double decker bus from school into Wellington and back. When we were in Wellington, we were an audience to three fantastic shows as part of the Capital E Children's Art Festival. On Friday, we had another earthquake practice and we are all very good at the 'turtle' position. We also welcomed Brodie and Amelia to our class.

Our Inquiry about the past

We have been learning about our family tree and the activities that our parents and grandparents did as children compared to what we do. Ana showed us photos of her grandparents and Ted showed us a quilt his grandma had made for him. The teachers showed items from their childhood. There was a small child's sewing machine, a wooden dolly peg, glass milk bottle, telephone and elastic twist game. We even saw a photo of what Muritai School looked like one hundred years ago.
