We love Science Week!
Room 3 have had a fantastic time involved with all sorts of fun science activities this week. They did magic writing, magnetic fishing and discovering in the magnetic sand when our friends from Kindergarten visited. We joined room 2 outside to watch Mrs Mills add half an alkaseltzer tablet to the water in the container and we watched it explode. We suggested many ways as to what would happen before she put the lid on and shook it up.
Woosh! It was finally launched! Yay!
At school assembly these children got the Principal and Student awards - Well done!
Room 3 learnt about celery this week and discovered the tubes inside the stalks. Mrs Buckley put a stalk into each of five jars containing different coloured water. We wondered what would happen.
Can you see any changes?
Mrs Mills showed us an experiment with eggs. First she cracked them open and put them onto a plate. We could see the yellow yolk and the egg white. She then used an empty bottle to suck up the yolk and move it onto the other plate. Can you explain why this happened?
On Friday the whole school had a rocket blast off. We made our rocket by using a plastic bottle which we wrote our names onto and then we filled it with glitter. Mrs Buckley added a nose piece and some fins and tail and some red coloured water. We went outside with the rest of the school to see how far the rockets would travel. At the end, we enjoyed having our lunch with our big buddies.
We pumped and pumped and pumped!
Look how far it went! Absolutely amazing! Our class award!
