Static Electricity.  

Static electricity stays in one place. It is produced when some materials are rubbed together.It causes crackles when you comb your hair. We took some sheets of green paper and tore it up into small pieces.We used a pen to add two black dots and hey presto we had some frogs .!! We combed our hair with a plastic comb quite a few times .We held the combs over the frogs and they came alive !!! The frogs jumped up because the comb had static electricity. 







Did you know Lightning is caused by a natural build up of static electricity in clouds? The lightning strike is just a giant spark of electricity.

We are working hard learning our Letterland characters. Kicking King says k in words -.

Wow - this week we had a ride on a double decker bus from school into Wellington and back. When we were in Wellington, we were an audience to three fantastic shows as part of the Capital E Children's Art Festival. Our Inquiry about the past

We have been learning about our family tree and the activities that our parents and grandparents did as children compared to what we do. Ana showed us photos of her grandparents and Ted showed us a quilt his grandma had made for him. The teachers showed items from their childhood. There was a small child's sewing machine, a wooden dolly peg, glass milk bottle, telephone and elastic twist game. We even saw a photo of what Muritai School looked like one hundred years ago.
